Tuscarawas County Scanner started out as a hobby in 2012. We built a website so that we could listen to our scanners and it sparked interest from our friends and family. We then started posting things on Facebook about traffic and other things going on around our area. Our posts got a lot of interest from the community and our Facebook followers quickly grew. We currently have close to 30,000 followers on Facebook (which is about 1/3 of the population of our county) and more than any local radio station or newspaper in the county.
We have recently updated our website to be more user-friendly and to provide a place where you can go to see what is going on locally. As this is just the beginning in our effort to serve the community by providing accurate news and important information as it is happening, rather than the next day or at a certain hour of the day like other media sources provide. We post events as they happen and we feel that our community shouldn’t have to pay for this service according to how many stories they read.
Our old website averaged about 10,000 visitors a month and with our new site, we expect the average to increase substantially. We have big plans for our site as you will see in the very near future. We will be adding new feeds along with some new additions that will help us provide you with accurate info, and as we grow we will stay committed to providing you with accurate, real-time news in Tuscarawas County.
We are currently looking for local advertisers for our website and we have multiple ad spots available for every budget. We have partnered with Snyder Solutions Inc. in Dover to help facilitate and manage the advertising for us. If you would like to advertise, please contact us for details. Please be aware that we are only accepting LOCAL businesses and not companies that are outside of Tuscarawas County.
